In some highly unfortunate news, newly crowned UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo has been pulled from his scheduled UFC 125 bout with Josh Grispi due to injury, according to a report from Heavy.com.

ESPN's Josh Gross further reports that Aldo suffered a compacted vertebrae that led to tingling in both arms. He lost strength and underwent an MRI, and he'll be out for at least a month with therapy.

His bout with Grispi was to be the first UFC Featherweight Championship bout ever, and now it's likely to be rescheduled for one of the February events, perhaps even March depending on Aldo's recovery timetable.

Aldo was officially awarded the UFC belt in a ceremony before UFC 123 on Saturday, as he comes over from the WEC the Champion of the division.

Penick's Analysis: This is depressing news, this was one of the fights I was most looking forward to of the announced upcoming events. The good news is the therapy may only be another month, and so the fight could be rescheduled fairly soon. It hurts the UFC 125 card for sure, as the main card isn't nearly as strong without this fight, but there are a lot of really good fights scheduled for this event, and it will give one of the unaired preliminary card bouts an opportunity to make it to the Spike broadcast, and one of the fights a chance to be promoted to pay-per-view.
