Roller coaster of fights: Ups and downs of Frank Mir

With an MMA career that spans nearly 10 years, Frank Mir has seen many ups and downs. Check out the mountain range of his life.

Hill: A young Frank Mir starts his career with the UFC with a bang, spending just over two minutes in the Octagon in his first two fights. He submitted Roberto Travern at UFC 34 then Pete Williams at UFC 36.

Valley: The young phenom stumbles, losing by TKO to Ian Freeman at UFC 38.

Head-Stompin' hill: Mir rebounded with a 46-second toehold submission of Tank Abbott, then a disqualification win over Wes Sims after Sims stomped Mir in the head at UFC 43. At UFC 46, Mir knocked Sims out, earning a title shot at Tim Sylvia.

Mt. Arm Snap: Mir won the UFC heavyweight championship at UFC 48 by breaking Tim Sylvia's arm. Just three years into his pro MMA career, Mir was at the top of the world.

Valley of the Motorcycle Crash: Mir's worst valley came not in the Octagon, but on the road. On September 17, 2004, he was involved in a serious motorcycle accident that tore up his leg. He was unable to defend his belt, and was stripped of his title.

Valley of the Unprepared: The Frank Mir who submitted his way to the top of the UFC heavyweight pile was nowhere to be seen when he returned to the UFC 57 in February of 2006. In his first fight after his motorcycle accident, Mir was TKOed by Marcio Cruz. He pulled out a decision over Dan Christison, but was then TKOed by another UFC phenom, Brandon Vera, at UFC 65.

I'm Back Hill: Mir needed a win. He had been unimpressive in three fights, and then had to postpone a bout with Antoni Hardonk because of a shoulder injury. He did win, quickly submitting Hardonk. He then had another quick win over some guy named Brock Lesnar.

Mt. Interim Champion: After coaching against him for the eighth season of "The Ultimate Fighter," Mir beat Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 92. Mir won in a second round TKO, winning the interim belt and earning a shot at Brock Lesnar. The winner would unify the belts.

Valley of UFC 100: At the biggest and most publicized UFC event in history, Mir's match with Lesnar was the main event. The two trash talked for months before the fight, but Lesnar easily won by TKO. Lesnar controlled Mir on the ground, then pounded him out for the win.

French Fighter Hill: Mir got back on track with a win over Cheick Kongo that saw Mir return to his grappling roots. He won by a guillotine.

Not Another Big Wrestler! Valley: Mir couldn't sustain his winning ways, getting knocked out by Shane Carwin at UFC 111.

This leads us to Mir's match-up with MMA legend Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic at UFC 119 this Saturday. Will this bout be a hill or valley for Mir?

WEC 51 Weigh-In Results

BROOMFIELD, Colo. - All fighters successfully made weight for their WEC 51 bouts at the official weigh-in event at the 1stBank Center on Wednesday.

Main-event featherweights Jose Aldo and Manny Gamburyan each tipped the scale at 145 pounds for their featherweight title fight. It will be Aldo's second defense of the belt since taking it from Mike Brown at WEC 44 last November. At WEC 48 in April, he defeated former champ Urijah Faber by unanimous decision.

Gamburyan, a finalist on Season 5 of "The Ultimate Fighter" who dropped down to featherweight from his lightweight days in the UFC, said his experience is his edge in the title fight.

"I trained really hard and I've been in some big fights," Gamburyan told Craig Hummer. "My win over Mike Brown gave me (confidence) ... and I'm ready to take that belt."

Japanese promoters continue to mess with Ishii's career; he fights Saturday

Maybe Satoshi Ishii had no intent of being a real mixed martial artist. Aside from nationalistic loyalty and some big paydays, he did himself zero favors by spurning the UFC's offer back in 2009 to sign with Sengoku of Japan. The much-celebrated judo gold medalist from the 2008 Olympics decided to start his MMA career in Japan and it's been a mess ever since. He made his debut against Hidehiko Yoshida, a 16-fight veteran and fought only one more time since that loss. Now you can add one more silly fight to the story. DREAM announced Wednesday that Ishii will face Ikuhisa Minowa this Saturday.

Fight Opinion suggests that it's simply a money grab by DREAM, which is having difficulty with its Japanese television deal. "Minowaman" is a favorite of Japanese fans, but frankly he's kind of a sideshow. The 34-year-old is 46-30-8 in his career and is generally matched up against much bigger opponents.

There's been talk of the 230-pound Ishii dropping to light heavyweight so it'll be interesting to see how much bigger he is than the 187-pound Minowa. He is a savvy fighter who's won five straight against the likes of Hong Man Choi, Bob Sapp, Imani Lee, Rameau Thierry Sokoujdou and Jimmy Ambriz.

The fight makes little sense in the progression of Ishii's career. What's the point of once again putting him at risk to benefit a one-time ticket dash? Sengoku already did it once with the Yoshida fight

The Ishii-Minowaman fight highlights a pretty solid card featuring Gegard Mousasi, Jason Miller, Joachim Hansen and Shinya Aoki.

Mayhem Miller Welcomes the Challenge of Submitting Sakuraba

by Michael David Smith

In Kazushi Sakuraba's first MMA fight, in 1996, he submitted to an arm triangle choke from Kimo Leopoldo. In more than 40 fights since then, Sakuraba has never tapped.

Royce Gracie couldn't make him tap in a total of 105 minutes over two fights. Gracie's relatives Ralek, Ryan, Renzo and Royler couldn't make Sakuraba tap either. Neither could great submission specialists ranging from Antonio Rogerio Nogueira to Ken Shamrock.

On Saturday in Japan, Jason Mayhem Miller wants to make Sakuraba tap again.

Dollaway scores impressive choke win over Doerksen at UFC 119

Joe Doerksen knows submissions so C.B. Dollaway was going to be cautious in his UFC 119 fight on Spike. But Dolloway isn't half bad with his sub game either. Doerksen got a little sloppy during some action along the cage and left his head exposed. Dollaway latched on an arm-in choke and dropped to his back. But it wasn't over just yet. Dollaway showed patience and eventually let the arm go and locked on a guilltoine choke that Doerksen couldn't survive. Dollaway got his sixth UFC win at 2:13 of the first round.

"I can't believe I even got that," said Dollaway, who was all smiles with UFC analyst Joe Rogan. "Joe has 33 submissions out of 46 wins. I was worried about his submission game and then I pulled off a guillotine in the first round."

Patience was a key for Dollaway (11-2, 5-2 UFC). He locked on the initial choke with 4:20 left in the round. Once on his back, the Season 7 "Ultimate Fighter" runnerup, didn't squeeze like a maniac. He kept the hold and waited for Doerksen to make a move.

"I didn't want to wear my arms out. A lot of times guys will wear theirs arms out going for it," said Dollaway.

Just over a minute later, Doerksen (46-13-1, 2-6 UFC) tried to pass and the scramble got to the feet for a few seconds. That's when Dollaway let go of Doerksen's arm and applied a guillotine. The fighters rolled on the mat several times but Dollaway held on and Doerksen couldn't hold out any longer.

"I had the guillotine locked on and I was just kind of hanging out, waiting to get the hook in. I was patient and I was able to hook the leg and end it. I can't believe I caught that," said Dollaway.

“I thought this fight was going to be a three-round war, but I’m very happy to get the win like I did. I planned on standing and trading with him because he’s very good on the ground."

The loss snapped a seven-win fight streak for Doerksen. This was his fourth fight in the last five months.

Old Feud, New Chapter: Noons Angered by Diaz No-Showing Conference Call

Nick Diaz has always done things his own way, so it should have come as no surprise to anyone when the Strikeforce welterweight champion no-showed a conference call to hype his upcoming title defense.

Yet it didn't lessen the reaction of his Oct. 9 opponent, KJ Noons, who seemed so frustrated by Diaz's absence that while discussing his issues with the champ, he ripped off a string of expletives that can't be reprinted here.

"Pretty unprofessional," was the most family-friendly description of Diaz provided by Noons when it came to his media obligations.

Sherk took UFC 119 fight without knowing who Dunham was

Sean Sherk is itching to get back in the Octagon this weekend at UFC 119. It sounds odd since the last time we saw Sherk he was running around the cage trying to catch Frank Edgar and then ran from the MGM Garden Arena following the loss. You forgot? Sherk was one of the big victories for Edgar as he made his way to the title upset victory over B.J. Penn and then another upset in defending the strap. That could've been Sherk in there against Penn, but just like the Hawaiian, he couldn't catch Edgar. Now he's got someone who'll stand in front of him in Evan Dunham. This is nice step up for Dunham. All the pressure is on the veteran Sherk. He doesn't care. After an injury-filled 16 months, he just wants to fight.

"To be honest when they offered me the fight with Dunham, I didn't know who he was and I just said 'OK, sounds good.' I didn't even look into it," Sherk told Neil Davidson of the Canadian Press. "I just wanted to fight and I accepted the fight, not knowing who he was."

Dunham only has four UFC fights under his belt but launched himself into the top 10 of the UFC's 155-pound division with a big win over Tyson Griffin.

"After I started watching some video, I'm like 'All right, OK, this is going to be a tough fight. So I better get my ass going and train like I always do," said Sherk. "If I do that, then there's nothing to worry about. I know I can hang with the best in the world, I can beat the best in the world. So nothing's changed on my end."

Sherk's resume is impressive at 34-4-1. He held the UFC lightweight title until he got popped for a positive drug test following UFC 73. His only losses have come to current or former world champions, Penn, George St. Pierre, Matt Hughes and Edgar. The question now is his age. He's 37 years old and his body broke down often following the Edgar loss in May of 2009.

He missed a fight at UFC 104 against Gleison Tibau because of a shoulder issue. Then he bailed from UFC 108 when he suffered a nasty cut on his forehead in training. He was also offered Clay Guida in March but turned it down because of more nagging injuries. Sherk said it was just a bad run of luck.

"I don't think I would say I've been cursed. I've been fighting professionally for 11 years, I've got 42 professional fights and I've been pulled out of two fights in 11 years. And it just so happens those two fights were back-to-back," said Sherk. "It's not a curse by any means, it's just the way it is. We play rough and sometimes you get hurt."

Sherk versus Dunham (11-0, 4-0 UFC) should be a good tactical scrap. Dunham has given his opponents fits with his takedowns. That might not be so easy against an accomplished MMA wrestler like Sherk. But the issue for Sherk once again is his lack of height and reach. If it turns into a standup war, the 5-foot-6 Sherk may have trouble dealing with the 5-11 Dunham. It might be refreshing to see Sherk go back to his bread and butter takedown game but as fighter's get older, they tend to take the less strenuous approach on the feet.

Crowd favorite and Indy firefighter Lytle wins at UFC 119

INDIANAPOLIS -- Chris Lytle said all week that he wanted to put on a show for the fans in his hometown of Indianapolis. He delivered, winning a decision over Matt Serra at UFC 119, 30-27 on all three judges' cards.

With the crowd chanting "Lytle," the two started out at the fight at a furious pace, with both fighters throwing bombs to start the fight. Lytle appeared to win the early exchanges, and just grew stronger headed into the second.

Serra began to slow in the second round, which Lytle took advantage of. Lytle wobbled Serra on a few occasions, using his uppercut to do damage. This continued in the third round. With a beat-up face, Serra tried in vain for a takedown, but Lytle continued to hammer away.

The two good friends embraced after the bout. Lytle asked the crowd in Indianapolis to cheer on his friend, and Serra admitted that he didn't execute a good game plan.

"What was I doing boxing with a boxing champion? What the hell's wrong with me?" Serra said after the fight.

"He could’ve just tried to take me down, but that’s about as ballsy as you can get," Lytle said. "I had plenty of respect for Matt beforehand but now it’s just so much more.”

Palhares gives fast apology to Marquardt for greasing accusations

Rousimar Palhares admitted he was wrong about the greasing accusations he threw at Nate Marquardt. He apologized after the fight for making the accusation, saying:

"I'm very sorry for the accusations I made," Palhares told MMAjunkie.com. "Nate Marquardt did not cheat in any way, and I'm very sorry to him and his team for my actions in the fight."

Palhares is known for getting fighters in painful leg locks, and Marquardt prepared for that by shaving his legs. Freshly shaved legs are harder to get a hold of, but are by no means against the rules.

Palhares' team said that he has faced greased fighters in the past, and that makes him paranoid. At the same time, they made no excuses for their fighter.

"He should have never stopped," [Palhares' coach Murilio] Bustamante said. "Nate won fair and square and did exactly what he should have."

Kudos to Palhares for owning up to his mistake. That bit of humility prevented a long drama, as when B.J. Penn accused Georges St. Pierre, Marquardt's teammate, of greasing.

Something completely different: Rich Franklin chicken dancing

In a week filled with talk of failed drug tests and medical exams, the MMA world needs something a little lighter. How about former UFC champ Rich Franklin doing the chicken dance?

Franklin led the dance at Oktoberfest in Cincinnati. His arm is still healing from the break he suffered in the win over Chuck Liddell. Franklin said recently that he expects to return to the Octagon in 2011.

MMA talk hits national airwaves on a football Monday! Rome mocks Sonnen

Monday's Jim Rome show was another example of "be careful what you wish for MMA" when it comes to media coverage. Now that more media big boys are on board, they'll often latch onto the negative stories before the positive ones. It was a bit shocking to hear the national radio host talking MMA on a Monday that didn't follow a fight card weekend, but the Chael Sonnen saga was simply too good for Rome to pass up.

The Premiere Radio and ESPN television host became very familiar with Sonnen right before UFC 117. Rome did a nice job of pressing Sonnen on his over-the-top comments about Lance Armstrong cheating, taking steroids and "giving himself cancer." Sonnen denied making the comments and then denied it again even upon hearing the audio. He was an easy punching bag on Monday when Rome discovered that the fighter himself tested positive for performance enhancing drugs.

Rome did bring up a good point. In the end, are there really any long-range repercussions for the sport? Will Sonnen getting nabbed scare anybody? Rome says no, because the penalties can never match the potential windfall from taking PED's, winning and moving up the rankings.

Rome also found time to play some drops (5:45 mark) from Sonnen's Q&A last week at Ultimate Fight Night 22. Sonnen said he'd like to stab Brock Lesnar (video -- 5:25 mark). At least he's got no worries about any disciplinary action for that stupid comment; Sonnen more than overshadowed it with his positive test.

More details are slowly trickling in about the drug-test results in California. Sonnen is looking at a year suspension and minimum fine of $2,500. George Dodd from the California State Athletic Commission told SI.com's Josh Gross that Sonnen admitted before the Anderson Silva fight that he'd taken something.

"He only indicated that he was taking it but he never indicated why," Dodd said. "[Sonnen] just let me know he was taking [something] and that's when I called over an inspector to get it documented. But when you do take it you still have to show a medical reason."

Sonnen's urine sample first tested positive on Sept. 2. A second test was done at UCLA's Olympic Drug Testing lab and produced the same result.

The scheduled February rematch between Sonnen and Silva appears unlikely. Unless he wins an appeal, Sonnen's suspension will run through Sept. 2, 2011.

In a press release, the UFC stated that the Yushin Okami-Vitor Belfort fight at UFC 122 is now a No. 1 contender fight in the middleweight division.

Agent fired on live television; chooses Jones and 'JWoww' over Mitrione

Matt Mitrione has a gift. The former NFL player is an excellent athlete and possesses solid hands, but his fighting skills are the least of his strengths. The fighter dubbed "Meathead" by Rashad Evans on Season 10 of "The Ultimate Fighter" has a way of attracting attention by irking folks with his chops and behavior.

He's only got three fights, but the way he's carried himself has led to a fight with legendary streetfighter Kimbo Slice and then big exposure again this weekend on Spike TV. After beating up Joey Beltran at UFC 119, he added another footnote to his growing story. Mitrione closed out the postfight interview with UFC analyst Joe Rogan by telling someone they were fired.

It turns out Mitrione dumped his agent Malki Kawa. Mitrione went on to explain that it wasn't a joke. Why did he fire his agent? Mitrione claimed Kawa let him down at UFC 119.

"He did the worst job ever when it came to sponsorships," Mitrione told Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting. "For a televised fight, he got me $5,000. That is highly unacceptable."

Mitrione sounded disappointed about the attention he got before the fight.

"We were asking him who did you get? Who do I need to get on my shorts," said Mitrione. "The answers I get are 'your wife's bothering me about stuff that's not her business.' Really? My wife? It's not her business about my money. That's a trip. He was out of line in a lot of ways. I think it's really appropriate for me to fire you on national television."

Where was Kawa? The MMA agent (pictured on the right) was in Las Vegas this weekend with Jon Jones (left), another one of his clients.

Right or wrong, Kawa chose to hang with the guy many think is the No. 1 prospect and rising star in mixed martial arts. Jones was in Sin City for the Mr. Olympia competition and expo. The duo also spent time hanging out with the likes of "Jersey Shore" star Jenni "JWoww" Farley at The Bank, a Vegas nightclub.

Kawa responded to the firing on Twitter by saying there was a lot more to the story and that he never disrespected Mitrione's wife.

Update: Kawa further responded to the firing on "the MMA Hour" on FanHouse's MMA Fighting.

"I'm not upset with him. I'm just upset with the fact that he didn't give me a chance to explain to him some of the process that has happened and why his numbers weren't $10,000-$15,000."

Kawa explained there were too many people around Mitrione calling potential sponsors on his behalf. There was also a misunderstanding of where money from TapouT and Hitman clothing was coming from.

Kawa added that he didn't disrespect Mitrione's wife.

"I have nothing but the utmost respect for his wife, for his entire family. Just as a person, I don't disrespect anyone's family," said Kawa.

Kawa says this story and others are cheating Mitrione from his moment and what the true focus should be.

"I feel bad for him," said Kawa. "This case has taken over the good job he did at the fights. This has gotten crazy."

Kawa's reputation is pretty solid. There haven't been any complaints from his other clients like Kenny Florian, Carlos Condit, Ben Henderson, Matthew Riddle and Thiago Alves.

Marquardt wins as Palhares complains of greasing

Don't ever stop fighting.

Rousimar Palhares learned that lesson the hard way Wednesday night in the main event at Ultimate Fight Night 22.

After a few minutes of feeling each other out, Palhares finally got Nate Marquardt where he wanted him, on the ground. But that's where things got wacky.

Palhares tried to slap on a heel hook and Marquardt escaped with ease. The Brazilian then motioned to his corner that Marquardt's ankle was slippery. One problem though: The fight was still going on. Marquardt smashed Palhares with a right that hurt him and then landed several more shots as Palhares turtled up. The fight was stopped at 3:28 of the first and Marquardt walked away with a bizarre win in Austin, Texas.

UFC analyst Joe Rogan pointed out that Palhares was complaining that Marquardt may have been greasing. Even though Marquardt fired off 18 unanswered shots on the ground before the finish, Palhares had his wits about him, stood up quickly and immediately pointed at Marquardt's ankle. The winner told Palhares there was nothing on his legs and then addressed the issue in front of the crowd with Rogan.

"They checked it before I fought," said Marquardt. "The thing is, I came out really warm because I wanted a good sweat. I wanted to be slippery."

For those unfamiliar with the term "greasing," it was on display front and center after UFC 94 where Marquardt's teammate, Georges St. Pierre, was accused by B.J. Penn of using some sort of slippery agent to give himself the advantage.

The case labeled by the media as 'Grease-Gate' was actually heard by the Nevada Athletic Commission. However, the NAC elected not to move forward with a full-scale investigation.

Palhares' actions were ill-advised. Whether his claim was legitimate, he should've kept fighting and addressed the issue between rounds.

"I just saw an opportunity and jumped on it," said Marquardt. "We kind of ended up in that scramble position. And that wasn't part of the game plan and I saw the opportunity and went for it."

Marquardt (31-8, 9-3 UFC) picks up a solid win and gets himself back in the mix for a potential middleweight-title eliminator fight before the end of 2010.

Shortly after the fight, UFC president Dana White Tweeted that Marquardt was checked by Texas officials and there were no signs of greasing.

Marketing 101 by McKee: Lightweight's chops have him on the verge of UFC deal

Antonio McKee has developed a reputation as a boring fighter, but he's far from it outside the ring and cage. Sometimes that's as important as what you do in your fights. McKee talked the talk, then walked the walk two weeks ago at MFC 26. He guaranteed a dominant performance, then delivered one against Luciano Azevedo and is now mulling over a contract that'll give him his first shot at the UFC. On Friday, McKee said he's verbally agreed to a deal and is going over the final details of the contract. All this at the age of 40.

McKee told Marcos Villegas that he's still looking over the contact and that's he's loyal to the MFC but he sure sounds like going to be with the big boys of MMA soon.

"I've worked on a lot of stuff. I've got a lot of surprises. So if people are studying those old tapes, you're going to be in for a rude awakening," said McKee (4:17 mark). "And if you do, I'm sorry you may leave the ring like Azevedo did. I don't want to hurt people. I just want to show people that I'm the best in the world."

McKee (25-3-2) is a wrestler by heart. His takedowns have helped him maintain an unbeaten streak that dates to 2003.

"If I'm on top. I've got many weapons there," said McKee (5:34 mark). "As you can see, I exposed one of them last week and that was that vicious elbow. See, I went to Thailand and had a metal plate put in my elbow. So when I hit people it's just going to cut everyone open and you're not going to be able to stop that."

Just what MMA needs! The real life Dusty Rhodes and his bionic elbow. Let's hope McKee brings the loaded boots as well. McKee also had a fight against Drew Fickett on the horizon. That's probably on hold for now. McKee suggests that's a break for Fickett, whom he says he'll smash too.

UFC 119: Ryan Bader Beats Antonio Rogerio Nogueira

by Michael David SmithFormer Ultimate Fighter winner Ryan Bader earned the biggest victory of his MMA career Saturday at UFC 119, beating Antonio Rogerio Nogueira by unanimous decision.

The bout may set Bader up for a showdown with Jon Jones, in what would be a match-up of the two best young fighters in the light heavyweight division. If Jones is next for him, Bader will need to be better than he was Saturday night against Nogueira.

Konrad dominates Grabowski in Bellator heavyweight tournament

Cole Konrad won a mostly boring, but dominant, decision over Damian Grabowski, 30-26, 30-27, 30-27, in Bellator's heavyweight semifinals on Thursday in Milwaukee.

Konrad started with an immediate takedown, then followed up with knees in Grabowski's side. His control from the top, with scattered knees and punches, continued for the rest of the round. Grabowski barely did anything throughout the round.

He took a bit longer to get the takedown in the second round, actually throwing a punch and controlling Grabowski in the clinch before easily taking him to the ground. The referee tired of the grapplefest halfway through the second and stood the two fighters up. It didn't take long for Konrad to take the fight right back down to the ground, and even went for a submission, grabbing Grabowski's arm in a kimura attempt. It didn't work out, but it's a big step for the NCAA champion wrestler.

You're never going to guess what Konrad did to start the third and final round. Did you guess take Grabowski down? Then you were right! But this time, Grabowski was able to get out from under Konrad. Grabowski even tried for a takedown and guillotine. Neither were successful, and Konrad scored another takedown, controlling the bout until the final bell.

Konrad will now face Neil Grove in the finals of Bellator's inaugural heavyweight tournament. Grove is a dangerous striker and will provide interesting match-up for Konrad's wrestling.

Mir says be careful about ending someone's career over steroids

The performance enhancing drugs issue has ignited a great debate this week. The California State Athletic Commission suspended Chael Sonnen for a year after a pair of test indicated that his UFC 117 prefight urine sample came back with unusually high levels of testosterone. Is a year, a $2,500 fine and the loss of 2-3 fights enough? Some like, Josh Gross of SI.com, say no. He'd like to see UFC adopt a zero tolerance policy. Fighters like Frank Mir aren't so sure that's the way to go.

"I think everything has to be a case by case situation. This is why we have laws in our civilian life. They're not cut and dry," Mir told WJFK's Chad Dukes on the Lavar Arrington Show in Washington, D.C.

Mir asked what happens if a doctor prescribed something?

"If (the fighter's) like 'yeah, I had an injury and my competitive nature got a hold of me and I went to the doctor.' If it was a situation where (he) was facing not fighting and (his) competitive nature got a hold of (him), I don't know if that would justify ending someone's career."

Mir said it might be different if the fighter in violation of drug testing rules had malicious intent.

"If the same guy says 'yeah, I took this so I could smash skulls and I'm nuts.' That guy's in a different category," said Mir.

There are plenty of people who agree with Gross. One of them is not UFC president Dana White, who told Yahoo! Sports' Kevin Iole that he thinks the states' penalities are pretty severe right now. Watch Kalib Run thinks that White is wrong for softening his stance on steroids over the years. He links back to a 2004 quote that White gave Iole around the time that Kimo Leopoldo tested positive when he said the UFC wanted no part of guys who used steroids.

Larry Pepe, the interviewer who pulled the infamous Lance Armstrong quote from Sonnen, defends Sonnen. Pepe says it makes no sense that Sonnen would try to cheat and then right before the fight that he took illegal substances. Pepe believes there's a strong possibility he was prescribed medication for a legitimate medical issue. Pepe urges critics to let Sonnen have his day in court with the CSAC before condemning him.
